In this video, I want to talk about a question I received from someone who was wondering how to reverse insulin resistance.

What is insulin resistance? – It’s a condition where the cells are no longer absorbing insulin. Without insulin, the cells can’t get fuel, so they’re starving. This makes you crave carbohydrates. A signal is then sent to the pancreas telling it to make more insulin. The average person with Insulin resistance has 5-7 times more insulin than normal.

High levels of insulin create:

• Starved cells
• High blood sugar
• Damage in the body

What causes insulin resistance? – Overexposure to insulin (chronic carbs and frequent eating)

How do we fix this problem? – The prolonged absence of insulin.

If you don’t fix insulin resistance:
• You’re not going to get weight loss
• You’re going to be hungry all of the time

In my opinion, it takes about 3-8+ months to reverse insulin resistance. My guess is that healthy keto with intermittent fasting is responsible for 90%+ of improvements. Healthy keto provides the key nutrients you need to help speed up the process.

If you want to enhance your results you can:

• Add exercise
• Lower your stress
• Get more sleep
• Get plenty of nutrients (zinc, vitamin D, chromium, potassium, magnesium)

How do you know if insulin resistance is going away?

1. Your hunger is going down
2. You’re losing belly fat
3. Your blood pressure is going down
4. Your blood sugars are good
5. No dawn phenomenon
6. You have more energy
7. You’re satisfied when you eat

  1. I promised to update my 4 month trial of Dr. Berg supplement- sugar support. Like if you want me to continue 🙂 1 month – no change. Started second bottle.

  2. Dr Berg, you said eating too often fuels insulin resistance. I suffered hypoxia for 3 day's from over X-posure to Carbon monoxide and H2s, Hydrogen sulphide, and since my body was feeling like a piece of lead, I assume my mitochondria (energy furnace) in every cell we're damaged. I have to graze, eating often with minimal carb intake to avoid Lactic acid building up from anaerobic glycolosis from impaired oxygen in my cells. If I don't eat every 3 hour's I go into a brain fog, and exhaustion. I have been struggling with insulin resistance and wondering if a strict carnivore or Keto diet would help?

  3. I have got news for you ! Nobody is going to educate us except a few good people like our Dr Eric ,why should they it’s not in their interests to educate the masses ,however I would have thought the NHS in the uk would save millions of pounds in money and weights loss if they adopted Dr Bergs proven remedies ! it certainly works for me ie no carbs and I F .Great work Dr Berg ..

  4. Can you have diabetic antibodies in your blood with high sugar and low insulin and still be Dt2 or antibodies presence mean 100% DT1?????

  5. I've been doing 20/4 intermittent fasting and keto for three months. I check my blood sugars regularly. I have not been a diabetic or on meds, just pre-diabetic, 110 fasting b.S. I have noticed that my blood sugar DROPS one hour after eating, 8 to 15 points lower than my fasting b.s. This doesn't make sense. Anyone know why?

  6. Thank you DOC for TELLING people the TRUTH that YOU CAN REVERSE TYPE 2 DIABETES …. AND including indications that morning sugar levels are an indication that it's really working (don't give up). Back in the 1990s a pastor was diagnosed with colon cancer just after losing his mother (a nurse) to colon cancer. Being a nurse she believed whole-heartedly in chemo; but he was left with the distinct impression that he had just witnessed chemotherapy devastate and killed her even before the cancer took its natural course. This prompted him to ask God what he could do to get well. He said God showed him to eat a vegetable diet to heal. He found an expert to help him put together a vegetable diet that prominently featured raw vegetable juices … which included lots of raw carrots. He published a small book after his body naturally reversed cancer without one drop of chemotherapy or radiation.

Soon many people started trying his published "Hallelujah Diet" and reversing their auto-immune disorders, FM/CFS (chronic fatigue/pain), and one day a man wrote about reversing his years-long TYPE 2 DIABETES.

I know as a Type-O blood type I've always had to grab protein snack when I get a spell of hypoglycemic fainting. Sugar snack do not help. It has to be peanut butter, nuts, or meat.

Diet is the answer to many conditions and the mainstream medical community is busy pushing pills for big pharma.

    Your work is impotent!

  7. From 3 to 8 months… well after reversing IR are we supposed to stay in ketosis, or is keto just a tool to achieve our goal? If so then how low carb is enough to live by without being afraid of getting insulin resistant again?

  8. Question : in the middle of process of reversing insulin resistance, can we go in and out ketosis lets say for example one day every two weeks, or is it going to slow down the process significantly? Even if we follow carb day with a 16 hours dry fasting? Please make video on this! And otherwise anyone answer!

  9. Hi Dr. Berg, l like to thank you for all your hard work and time to sharing all these great information and knowledge with us… I am speechless. I would love to ask you for a huge favor. About a month ago my 10 year old boy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes…. plus hyperthyroidism… It was a huge shock for my family and him as well…we never had a diabetic in our family…and I could not believe that this happened to my son ..why not me, why him!!!! He is on insulin injection plus some medications for his overactive thyroid now….for some reason I am hoping that his diabetic might go away if his thyroid function gets back to normal..obviously I am not a doctor but I am researching alot and hoping to find the some clue in regards of this condition…can you pls pls do a video for type 1 in kids please. Can you please let me know what are the most important and neccessary blood test beside glucose and insulin that needs to be done in the beginning of diagnose? Showing antibodies in a blood test is it only for diabetic or can be from a virus or thyroid problem too…is there a connection between them… how can I check his insulin level again even he is on insulin injection? They did not do cpeptide test? Is cpeptide test one of the most necessary test for diabetic? Can someone in a growth age show a temporary sign of diabetic because a unhealthy diet ( a lot of milk and sugar and lack of exercise)… I know that this is for type 2 but is there a possibility that the blood sugar test result be incorrectly diagnosed as a type 1 instead of type 2….his body base on the 1st test is making insulin but I was told it is little…can thyroid effect on insulin????? I would greatly appreciate if you can make a video in regards of this conditions….Thank u so so much pls help…..

  10. Most doctors prescribe medication (Metformin) that only force more glucose into the cells! This does produce immediate relief of "Symptoms" but, it Does Not Address the "Root Cause" of the "Condition". "Relief of Symptoms" is considered a "Cure" by most doctors. This is how they are taught in med school, also, the big pharma companies add to this methodology. After all, "Well People" don't prolong Drug Sales, now do they? Hmmm. After three days of taking prescribed meds for diabetes I gained over 6 pounds that I had fought to lose! This is the exact opposite of the desired outcome. So, I had to discontinue the drugs, then adopt and incorporate the Good Ketogenic Diet. Everyone be advised, a physical condition that took decades to create is not quickly undone or reversed. That requires TIME, Proper Reversal Methodology, Patience, Consistency, Commitment to Continuity, etc. This video content is pure and simple perfection! Dr. Berg, I'm doing everything you stated and it's working for me, relatively quickly and effectively. Thank You, for this most excellent video. This is truly, a wealth of life saving information, all within 5:30 mins.! I believe, you're helping many people, understand and take control, of their physical health challenges. I, for one, am very grateful. God Bless You, Dr. Berg!
